This One Goes to 12: Spinal Tap Returns for One Final Concert

Spinal Tap Is Turning It Up Again, All the Way to 12

Get ready, rock fans, because Spinal Tap is back and louder than ever.

More than four decades after This Is Spinal Tap redefined the mockumentary genre, the legendary (and legendarily dysfunctional) band is reuniting for one final concert in Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. The original trio, David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls (played by Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer), returns, older, wiser (maybe), and still hilariously offbeat.

Directed by Rob Reiner, who reprises his role as the earnest documentarian Marty Di Bergi, the sequel promises more riffs, more backstage drama, and hopefully no spontaneous drummer combustions. Along for the ride are music icons Paul McCartney, Elton John, Questlove, and others, helping Spinal Tap face the music, and maybe finally earn their place in rock ’n’ roll history.

Spinal Tap II: The End Continues hits theaters on September 12, 2025, so mark your calendars, dust off your vintage band tees, and get ready to crank it to 12.
